About us

At Anglicare Southern Queensland, we believe everyone has a story. Our skilled staff deliver a breadth of care-based services across a vast geographic footprint and in many types of locations.

About the role - Staying on Track

The purpose of the Staying On Track (SoT) program is to improve community safety and reduce reoffending by bridging the transition to the community when young people are released from detention, to help youth offenders turn their lives away from crime. Anglicare works in partnership with the Department of Youth Justice to ensure every young person will have a plan tailored to meet the assessed risks, needs and level of response required and focus on reducing the risk of reoffending by supporting them to prepare for a productive future in employment and community life.

The Staying on Track program will work with young people in detention to build relationships and then proactively for 12-months post release to achieve their goals in home visits and community outreach including support activities, engaging in educational programs, school or vocational education, driving lessons, professional mentoring, volunteering, sports and extra-curricular activities, access to stable housing and linking to other community support networks.

We are seeking committed and compassionate Mentors, Youth Justice to join our team on a permanent, part-time basis within Toowoomba

As a Mentor, you will work directly with young people aged 10 to 17 who are involved with the youth justice system. Helping them to overcome offending behaviours, build resilience, and re-engage positively with their families and communities.

You will play an active role in delivering practical mentoring, group work, and culturally responsive support that promotes wellbeing, independence, and community safety.

If you are passionate about empowering young people, building meaningful connections, and creating positive change, we would love to hear from you.
