Sydney Fish Market (SFM) is the southern hemisphere's largest fish market, one of Australia's most visited attractions, and the beating heart of the nation's seafood industry.

We're preparing to open the new Sydney Fish Market (nSFM) – a-once-in-a-generation precinct that redefines the retail, dining, and wholesale experience on Sydney's waterfront.

As we enter this exciting new era, we are looking for a Financial/ Management Accountant who can liaise with stakeholders on financial matters

The Opportunity

  • Redesign and implement a revised chart of accounts to reflect the organisation's new operational and reporting needs.
  • Review and restructure existing financial reports to ensure clarity, relevance, and alignment with current goals.
  • Assist in the preparation of the Statutory Accounts
  • Assist in the preparation of the Company's annual budgets
  • Liaise with external accountants to prepare the annual Income Tax Return and Fringe Benefits Tax Return
  • Management of Seafood Trading income and expenditure - including daily postings and reconciliation
  • Prepare monthly financial accounts, management reports and balance sheet reconciliations in a timely manner
  • Assist in Supplier and Other Creditor payments in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Maintain crate purchase, destruction, evaluation and stock reconciliation records
  • Maintain cash at bank balances
  • Review of bank reconciliation

Who you are::

  • CA/ CPA qualified
  • Proven accounting experience with thorough knowledge of accounting procedures and principles including creating financial statements, general ledger functions and month-end/year end close process
  • Proven excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Understanding of Australian tax system
  • Full working rights
