Your day as a Senior Departmental Liaison Officer
If you are interested in expanding your public sector experience, then this is the opportunity for you.
As a Senior Departmental Liaison Officer (DLO), you'll help build and maintain a strong relationship between our Ministers' Offices and NSW Treasury.
You will play an integral part in implementing and improving systems between the department and Ministerial Office. You will review and facilitate the approval of documents such as briefing notes, advice, correspondence, Cabinet papers and parliamentary materials, and provide clear feedback to the department about the office's needs. In particular you will be responsible for checking the quality of information and advice and using sound judgement to prioritise work that is often unpredictable, deadline-driven and of a critical nature.
Over your 12-month term, you will gain exposure to the dynamics of politics, sitting days in Parliament House, and the end-to-end policy process from ideation through to legislation. You will help the office deliver NSW Budget, prepare for Budget Estimates and other committee hearings, and support Cabinet meetings. You will witness the progression of key policy priorities including housing reform, industrial relations, energy, major infrastructure projects and many more.
As a Treasury DLO, you will work across all divisions in the department. You will liaise with other NSW government agencies, other state and territory treasuries, and with external stakeholders. You will form productive working relationships with staff in other Ministerial Offices, the Premier's Department, the Cabinet Office, and officials at NSW Parliament House.
This role is primarily office-based working in the Sydney CBD where you will join a small and tight-knit DLO team in the Treasurer's Office.
You will be joining our Office of the Secretary and Ministerial Services team. Read more about your future Group and Division.
