This privately-owned industrial services business is a market leader in South-East Queensland. The business has experienced substantial growth via a combination of organic and acquisitions over the past 5 years, yet it is not highly corporatised and maintains a strong family values-based culture. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this a newly created role with an opportunity to make it your own.

We are looking for a dynamic and detail-oriented Accountant to join the team, reporting directly to the Senior Accountant. You will play a crucial role in assisting in preparing monthly management reports and financial statements; support the development and documentation of business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls; and contribute ideas for streamlining financial processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify, allocate, post and reconcile transactions to allow for the production of error-free accounting reports and summaries
  • Reconcile business accounts and verify account balances on regular cycles
  • Review entries in profit and loss, tax and asset records, check the accuracy of documents and help assess costs.
  • Assist with general journal entries and sub-ledger maintenance to support a clean and accurate trial balance.
  • Assist the Senior Accountant in preparing monthly management reports and financial statements.
    • Provide support with the Preparation of tax returns and documentation for BAS, FBT, payroll tax, workers compensation and superannuation.
  • Apply relevant accounting standards and company policies, ensure adherence regulatory requirements.

About You:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA/CA qualified (or working towards)
  • Strong proficiency in accounting software (NetSuite or similar) and Microsoft Office
  • Good oral and written communication skills
