Mechanical Project Engineer – Shape Projects from the Ground Up

Not every project lets you stay involved from the first sketch to the final system check.

This one does.

We're looking for a Mechanical Project Engineer to drive medium-sized industrial projects. From basic engineering through to operational handover and ongoing support, you'll play a key role in turning engineering concepts into working, safe, and efficient operations.

This isn't a back-office role. It's hands-on, cross-functional, and integral to how our projects get delivered—and how they perform long after launch.

What You'll Do

  • Deliver end-to-end project engineering across mechanical, civil, structural, and piping scopes
  • Apply solid mechanical engineering knowledge in the design and optimisation of plant systems
  • Participate in HAZOP studies and contribute to continuous improvement
  • Monitor project cost, scheduling, risk, and resource use, keeping everything on track and compliant
  • Work closely with consultants, contractors, and suppliers to ensure high-performing interfaces
  • Support commissioning, start-up and operational readiness, staying engaged beyond handover
  • Assist with document control, data governance, and engineering compliance standards
  • Help refine and grow in-house project and engineering systems and processes
  • Travel to sites or vendors as needed to support implementation or issue resolution

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar discipline)
  • Minimum 7 years' experience in engineering project delivery in mining, processing or industrial environments
  • Practical experience delivering mechanical scopes across multi-discipline teams
  • Strong knowledge of engineering standards, compliance, and operational risk management
  • Track record of delivering projects on time and within budget
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across teams and stakeholders
  • A continuous improvement mindset and a genuine commitment to safety and sustainability

Highly regarded:

  • Familiarity with process automation and data integration tools
  • Structured Operational readiness and handover
  • Broader knowledge across project management frameworks and operational systems
