We are currently seeking an outstanding Head of Learning Area (HOLA) – Learning Support to lead our experienced and committed Learning Support Team. This pivotal leadership role is integral to the success of our College. The position is full-time and ongoing, commencing in Term 1, 2026.
About the role: reporting to our Deputy Principals, The Head of Learning Support provides strategic and instructional leadership that ensures inclusive practices, equitable access to learning, and the development of all students as capable and confident learners. The role models the College motto "Always Striving Upwards" by promoting growth, compassion, and collaboration across the learning community.
Responsibilities as HOLA – Learning Support
- Strategic Leadership - lead the development and implementation of the College's inclusive education practices.
- Student Identification and Transition - oversee early identification of students requiring support through data, testing and consultation.
- Planning, Documentation and Review - oversee the creation and review of Curriculum Adjustment Plans (CAPs) and Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with students and families.
- Funding Application- coordinate funding applications and data collection for students within Mainstream with diagnosed disabilities/learning difficulties. i.e. Funding applications to CEWA (State Funding) and NCCD (Federal Funding).
- Intervention & Support - Coordinate evidence-based intervention programs in literacy, numeracy and study skills. Directly case manages Years 6/7, 7, 11 and 12 students.
What we are seeking
- Demonstrated leadership in inclusive and differentiated pedagogy aligned with CEWA policy and AITSL standards.
- Strong knowledge of disability legislation, NCCD and the Disability Standards for Education
- Experience in successfully leading the development of structured learning support processes, ensuring interventions, documentation and curriculum adjustments are well structured and effective.
- Proven ability to lead and coach staff to implement effective adjustments and evidence-based teaching practices.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with staff, families and students to create a culture of respect, inclusion and shared responsibility for every learner's growth.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to foster trust and collaboration with the team and across the College.
- Ability to use specialist knowledge in learning diversity and curriculum design to guide and support teachers in delivering accessible programs.
- Demonstrated ability in data-informed decision making to track progress, evaluate interventions and report outcomes.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Commitment to the Catholic ethos and integration of Gospel values into learning and leadership.
Desirable
- Postgraduate studies in Special Education, Inclusive Education, or related field
- Accreditation to Teach in a Catholic School (or willingness to obtain)
- Knowledge and the ability to teach the Sounds-Write literacy program.
