About the Role

St Vincent's Lismore (SVL) is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Finance to join our Executive Leadership Team. This is a rare opportunity to make a lasting impact on a values-driven regional health service, guiding its financial sustainability, growth, and innovation into the future.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Finance will provide high-level financial leadership, accountability, and strategic advice across all aspects of hospital operations.

You will oversee financial planning, reporting, and performance optimisation, ensuring the hospital continues to deliver high-quality care while achieving long-term sustainability.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading all financial functions, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Supporting executive decision-making through sound financial insights and analysis.
  • Driving operational efficiencies and cost improvement initiatives.
  • Ensuring compliance with all statutory and governance obligations.
  • Building financial literacy and accountability across the hospital's leadership and management teams.
  • Supporting the CEO in strategy, capital planning, and future growth initiatives.
  • Contract negotiations with health funds.
  • Professional presentation and a collaborative approach
  • Presentation to board an executive summary of financial reports

This pivotal role will lead the financial management and strategic direction of one of Australia's few remaining independent, not-for-profit private hospitals, proudly owned by the Catholic Diocese of Lismore.

Your skills and experience

You are a values-driven and experienced financial leader with a passion for healthcare and community service. You bring strong commercial acumen, strategic foresight, and a hands-on approach to problem-solving.

  • Significant experience in financial leadership, ideally within health, aged care, or not-for-profit sectors.
  • Proven ability to manage complex budgets and deliver sustainable results.
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to lead and manage a team through collaboration, influence, and integrity
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in finance, accounting, or business management.
  • CPA or CA professional membership (highly regarded).
