Council is seeking a suitably qualified applicant to fill the permanent full-time role of Community Safety Officer/Ranger.
Here is some of what you will be doing:
· Building good rapport and relationships in the community while delivering education and growing awareness to ensure improved community safety
· Investigation of reports and complaints on animal related matters such as stray, nuisance dangerous companion animals (including animal attacks)
· Investigation reports and complaints on other regulatory matters such as abandoned vehicles, litter and dumping, overgrown property, dilapidated structures and vehicular obstructions of Council's footpaths and roads
· Undertaking parking management and patrols throughout the city
· Ensuring compliance with relevant legalisation, acting on infringements and issuing warnings in accordance with policy and procedure
Reporting directly to the Manager Corporate & Customer Experience you will support Broken Hill City Council in delivering valued services to the community, through the coordination of inspections to detect, control and enforce Council policies and relevant legislation across the Local Government Area of Broken Hill.
The successful candidate will have well-developed administration skills, knowledge and experience in legislation interpretation and regulatory implementation. You will ideally have proven experience in animal management practices and will deliver parking regulation services through education and enforcement.
You will demonstrate proactive and strong interpersonal skills, manage positional workflow and take a proactive approach to your work. You can listen, assess the context and circumstance of a situation and act to make a difference in your community.
