Opportunity knocks for an experienced Chief Surveyor to work on a landmark APAC greenfield 'mega project'.

Offering the rare opportunity to be involved prior to production, and to 'own' all things Surveying.

Working on an expat FIFO basis, from any global point of hire, you will lead and coordinate all mine and civil survey operations across the site, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of data for both mining production and construction activities

We are particularly interested to hear from experienced MINING Chief Surveyors, with a hands-on approach to their work, that meet the following criteria:

Key Skills & Experience Required

  • Lead and coordinate all mine and civil survey operations across the site, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of data for both mining production and construction activities.
  • Support civil and structural teams by providing precise surveying for foundations, infrastructure, plant construction, and other site developments.
  • Oversee the establishment and maintenance of control networks and benchmarks for both mining and civil works.
  • Manage and integrate aerial survey technologies (e.g., drones, satellite imagery, LiDAR) to support pit progression, volumetrics, and topographical updates.
  • Develop and maintain reporting procedures for weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliations of the mine, stockpiles, and tailings storage areas.
  • Integrate GIS data with mine planning, engineering, and infrastructure systems for enhanced spatial analysis and reporting.
  • Develop, implement, and manage modern survey systems, software, and workflows tailored to both mining and civil disciplines.
  • Collaborate closely with mine planning, geology, geotechnical, and construction teams to ensure alignment and survey support across all departments.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international survey regulations, QA/QC protocols, and safety standards.
  • Recruit, mentor, and build capacity within the survey team, with a focus on developing junior and local-national surveyors.
  • Maintain and manage survey equipment, software, and technological upgrades in alignment with operational needs.

  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement in survey methodologies and data utilization.

  • Tertiary degree in Surveying or a related discipline.

  • Professional registration or licensure (e.g., Licensed/Registered Surveyor) preferred.
  • Surveying in mining, with knowledge of civil construction projects, including foundations, structural layout, and infrastructure development.
  • Significant demonstrated leadership experience, including team management and system implementation.
  • Experience setting up new sites, networks, and systems.
  • Proficiency with modern survey tools and software (e.g., Trimble, Leica, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Surpac, TBC, ArcGIS).
  • Strong practical experience with UAV/drone surveying, and GIS mapping.

Previous expat or FIFO experience in a developing country is highly advantageous.
