About The OPPORTUNITY
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Quality Engineer to join our Nulka line of business based at Richmond-VIC, reporting to the Quality Manager.

You will be responsible for providing assurance that quality practices are effectively deployed across the business. This includes maintaining quality standards to meet customer and regulatory expectations, independently reviewing and reporting on the effectiveness of quality practices, advising and supporting the business on quality-related matters, and driving agreed quality improvement initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensure quality standards, policies and processes are understood, embedded, and effectively applied across projects and business areas.
- Provide training, guidance, and mentoring to staff and stakeholders to build capability in quality management, tools, and continuous improvement practices.
- Lead and support quality planning activities, including contract reviews, project proposals, and the development of inspection and test plans to meet customer, regulatory and safety requirements.
- Provides guidance, advice and support on all quality related matters, including acting as a subject matter expert as appropriate/ required
- Conduct audits, gap analyses and assessments to ensure compliance with internal processes, ISO standards, and contractual or legislative obligations, and manage associated corrective actions.
- Monitor, analyse, and report on quality performance, customer feedback, complaints, and non-conformance trends, providing metrics and insights to drive improvements.
- Partner with suppliers and subcontractors through assessments, approvals, performance monitoring, and corrective/preventive action processes to ensure quality of external deliverables.
Facilitate and promote a culture of continuous improvement by identifying risks, driving process enhancements, and implementing agreed improvement initiatives.
Act as the interface between projects and the quality organisation, ensuring effective communication, collaboration, and alignment on quality-related matters.
- Manages the Non-conformance program with their Business area, ensuring effective stake holder engagement at all levels in leading the Non-conformance management. Conduct root-cause analysis and agreement of corrective and preventive actions/ improvements with stakeholders.
- An understanding of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), including familiarity with tools such as PPAP, FMEA, and control plans, is required.
About YOU
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, with additional quality-related certification (e.g. Quality Management, Lead Auditor) and professional membership desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in Quality Engineering, with strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and Defence/Military quality standards.
- Proven experience managing systems quality assurance across the product lifecycle, including configuration management, verification/validation, and acceptance testing.
- Practical capability in continuous improvement methods, including process mapping, gap analysis, metrics development, and cultural/quality audits.
- Strong communication, report writing, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to train, mentor, and influence others.
