In Australia, ASSA ABLOY operates a manufacturing site, taking design concepts through to finished products for both local and export markets. Our iconic brands—Lockwood, Abloy, Whitco, and Yale—are driven by innovation and have been recognized on Forbes' Top 100 Most Innovative Companies list four times.

About The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated Architectural Specification Writer to join our team in Murarrie, Queensland. Reporting to the National Specification Co-Ordinator, this role focuses on developing door hardware schedules that align with client requirements, Australian Standards, and building codes. You will collaborate with a variety of clients—including architects, distributors, and developers—while maintaining a high level of professionalism and deep product knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate and complete accurate door hardware schedules, ensuring compliance with Australian Standards, National Construction Code (NCC), and ASSA ABLOY product requirements.
  • Interpret and analyze architectural plans and construction drawings to develop tailored solutions.
  • Provide expert product advice and technical training to junior specification writers, clients, and internal teams.
  • Monitor customer and competitor movements within the construction and developer industry, identifying trends and opportunities.
  • Develop an advanced understanding of ASSA ABLOY Openings Studio Scheduling Software, compatible with Autodesk Revit and Graphisoft Archicad Building Information Modeling (BIM) environments.
  • Maintain strong relationships with architects, developers, distributors, and end users to support project needs.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, ensuring ASSA ABLOY maintains a competitive edge.

About You
This role is an excellent opportunity for both experienced professionals and those looking to build a career in the architectural hardware industry.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 5+ years of experience in the Architectural Door Hardware Industry, within a Distributor or Manufacturer role.
  • Industry Accredited ADHA Level 1 certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • A proven track record in door hardware specification (experience in estimation is beneficial but not required).
  • A background in locksmithing (preferred but not essential).
  • A strong understanding of Australian Standards, NCC, and local regulations.
  • Experience with mechanical, electro-mechanical, and Electronic Access Control (EAC) systems (desirable).
  • Experience with CRM systems such as Salesforce or Microsoft Dynamics 365 (desirable).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to translate client requirements into technical solutions.
  • Strong customer service skills and an ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders.
