Walkers Rd Preschool is a community non-for-profit sessional kindergarten nestled in the serene woodland neighborhood of Mount Eliza. Our dedicated staff team cater for preschool-aged children and offer an enriching learning environment that nurtures children's growth and development. For families seeking extended hours, we provide an after-care option. Our kindergarten is run by a dedicated parent committee who volunteer to keep our kindergarten running optimally. Our children are at the heart of everything we do. We believe that all children are capable and resourceful learners who are active contributors to their own learning. We also believe that all children need to feel and be valued as individuals but also within the context of their family and their community. Central to our program is building confidence and self-esteem, a child-centered learning approach, connecting with nature and acknowledgement of Bunurong people the custodians of the land and waters where the preschool is located.

Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Early Childhood Teacher - Administrator to lead our 3-Year-Old Kindergarten program and provide leadership support to the Director at Walkers Road Preschool.

This part-time position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to both our teaching team and the overall operation of the service. You will deliver a nurturing, play-based program that supports children's social, emotional, and cognitive development, while assisting with program planning, compliance, and communication tasks that ensure the kindergarten runs smoothly.

As a valued member of our team, you will work collaboratively wih the Committee of Management, Director and educators to create a welcoming, inclusive, and community-focused environment where every child can thrive.

Your key areas of focus will include:

Teaching & Program Delivery:

Lead the 3-Year-Old Kindergarten program, including our much-loved Bush Kinder program. Ensuring that the program:

• Nurtures children's creativity and independence through play-based learning and aligns with the VEYLDF and NQF.

• Provides inspiring and unit of enquiries and builds on children's interests

• Embeds evidence based practice building children's independence, confidence, and foundational skills for learning

• Connecting children with the natural environment and fosters curiosity, confidence, and resilience.

Educational Support:

Collaborate with the Director on curriculum planning, program evaluation, and quality improvement initiatives.

Administrative Support:

Provide assistance to the Director with documentation, enrolments, compliance records, and communication tasks to support the smooth daily operation of the kindergarten

Teamwork & Mentoring:

Contribute to a positive and reflective team culture by sharing ideas, supporting colleagues, and engaging in ongoing professional development.

Family & Community Engagement:

Build warm, respectful relationships with families and help foster the strong sense of community that defines Walkers Road Preschool.

• Bring a genuine love of working with young children and an understanding of early learning and development.

• Demonstrate knowledge of the NQF, VEYLDF, and evidence-informed teaching practices.

• Enjoy contributing to both classroom learning and the operational side of a small community service.

• Be flexible, organised, and proactive in supporting the team in partnership with the Committee of Management and the Director.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (or ACECQA-approved equivalent).

Minimum 4 years experience in early childhood education (sessional kindergarten experience desirable).

Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide staff in program planning and reflective practice.

Sound understanding of the NQF, VEYLDF, and evidence-informed pedagogy.

Hold a current WWCC and ACECQA compliant First Aid Certificate, including Resuscitation, Asthma Management, and Anaphylaxis.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
