Senior Civil Design / Technical Advisors DT01 / DT02 (B06) - BNE - Gen

We are regularly tendering for works in Brisbane & greater QLDand are seeking expressions of interest from experienced Senior Civil Design / Technical Advisors DT01 or DT02 (B06) interested in joining us and capable of committing to the following assignments for a period of approximately 1 to 2 years with the possibility of ongoing extensions and other projects.

The positions will be responsible for providing technical advice and direction about the interpretation, application and review of relevant planning and design policies, standards, and guidelines across the range of transport infrastructure planning and design activities.

Responsibilities:

• Managing the delivery of a program of planning and design projects and services which support the transport infrastructure functional areas in the Region to encourage teamwork and staff development;

• Provide high level advice, support and consultancy to professionals and technical staff on the planning and design process to ensure fitness for purpose, value for money, and best practice are achieved;

• Assist in the selection of the most suitable design process for project delivery, and manage the project development to ensure compliance and successful delivery;

• Undertake reviews of both temporary and permanent works designs on design and construct contracts to ensure compliance with contractual requirements, project brief, technical standards and legislation.

• Coordinate reviews undertaken by specialist designers internal and external to Transport and Main Roads and facilitate mutually agreeable outcomes to design issues between design reviewers and designers;

• Apply practical techniques of analysis and technical principles, identify possible problem areas and negotiate modifications or adaptations to the design briefs where necessary to achieve acceptance;

• Exercise creativity and initiative in investigating, analysing and conceptualising possible design options to meet project objectives;

• Demonstrate high level skills in project management in planning and design projects using project management methodologies to deliver project outcomes that meet client expectations and achieve target objectives; and

• Develop and maintain effective relationships with all stakeholders, including specialist groups, consultants, contractors and suppliers, to identify and address needs, expectations and issues.

Mandatory Experience

Minimum 5 years' post-graduate experience in the planning and civil design of transport and road infrastructure projects.

• Extensive experience in interpreting and applying policies, legislation, technical guidelines, practices and procedures to TMR policies, standards, and specifications.

Desired Experience

Working knowledge of computer-based CAD systems (particularly 12D and AutoCAD) for transport infrastructure.

Qualifications

Civil Engineering Degree / Bachelor of Technology or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution, which is accepted by the Institution of Engineers Australia as a full Member (MIEAust); OR

• Associate Degree in Engineering (Civil) with relevant competencies equivalent to the three-year degree.

• Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) - applicable to Civil Engineering qualified applicants only.

The proposed hours are nominally 40 per week, although no guarantee there won't be more or less hours due to project demands.  The roles could be Brisbane &/or greater QLD based.
