About the roleAs the Participant and Family Engagement Practitioner, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the voices, perspectives and priorities of participants and families are meaningfully embedded across all levels of Wellways.

Working as part of the Participant and Family Engagement stream in the Lived Experience Leadership Team, your work will be deeply guided by lived experience values, knowledge and evidence. You'll work across teams and services to promote inclusive practices such as co-production, shared decision-making and equitable partnerships.

  • Promote inclusive approaches such as co-production and shared decision-making
  • Design and implement engagement processes that reflect lived experience values
  • Support and grow existing participant engagement programs
  • Promote opportunities for participants and families to develop leadership and advocacy skills
  • Coordinate the use of service experience and outcome measures that matter to the people we serve

This role supports embedding lived experience across strategy, workforce development, service design and delivery.

Please note, this is a full-time role but hours maybe negotiable for the right candidate.

About youYou bring lived experience of mental distress or as a family member, carer or supporter and are ready to use that experience to create systemic change.

You are skilled in community engagement, facilitation and partnership-building, with the ability to design and lead processes that elevate participant and family voices. You're collaborative, values-led and deeply committed to inclusive practice.

Pre-engagement requirementsWellways Australia Limited is committed to the safeguarding of children and vulnerable people. All applicants applying for roles within Wellways must undergo a screening process prior to their successful appointment:

  • Publicly disclosed lived experience of mental distress or as family or supporter of someone with mental distress.
  • Lived expertise in leading participant and family engagement.
  • Experience in designated lived experience role
  • 100 points of ID including evidence of working rights within Australia (birth certificate/passport/visa)
  • National Police Check (completed with the past 12 months)
  • Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate - free online course
  • Current valid Driver's Licence and the ability to undertake regular travel
