Director, Transport and Main Roads

We are the TMR Prosecution Services Unit. We are responsible for court-based enforcement of camera-detected offences and serious transport safety matters, including marine safety, and light vehicle safety. We also enforce revenue offences relating to registration, tolling, and fare evasion.
We appear on section 222 appeals in the District Court and appear in hearings and sentences in Magistrates Courts across Queensland, undertaking travel as required. We also manage Special Hardship Orders and appear in court with respect to these civil driver licensing applications.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and inspiring a high-performing team of legal and administrative professionals responsible for prosecuting transport-related offences across Queensland, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuousimprovement.
- Overseeing the effective allocation and coordination of team resources to ensure the achievement of key business outcomes like budgets, performance targets, and reporting obligations, while ensuring continued compliance with legislative timeframes for a high volume of matters in a complex legislative environment.
- Delivering expert legal advice and authoritative guidance to senior executives and internal stakeholders.
- Contributing to policy and legislative reform by offering prosecutorial insights that ensure legal frameworks are aligned with policy intent and are practically enforceable within the judicial system.
- Acting as an advocate for the Prosecutions Unit and the Legal, Information Access and Prosecutions branch across the department, fostering strong stakeholder relationships and promoting prosecution initiatives that contribute to improved road safety outcomes.
Applications to remain current for 12 months
