The Team
Rapid Response is part of AV's approach to the Department of Families, Fairness & Housing's (DFFH) state-wide initiative to support Family Preservation & Reunification (FPR). The Rapid Response team compliment a suite of family supports provided within the FPR model.
The evidence-based program aims to prevent children being placed in Out of Home Care (OoHC) by providing families with short-term and intensive (up to 15 hours per week) face to face support. A safety-focused plan is developed with child protection and the family, and provides intensive, in-home support to address the crisis. Rapid Response Practitioners focus on addressing the protective concerns utilising a strengths-based approach that incorporates coaching and role modelling to build on parental strengths, skills, knowledge and resources to increase the levels of safety within the home.
This Role
The Rapid Response Practitioner will:
- Actively participate in the Rapid Response Communities of Practice Forums and Case Consultation Meetings.
Participate in supervision, reflective practice and consultation activities.
Demonstrate compliance with agency requirements through clear and concise documentation and data entry.
- Provide direct engagement and motivation using methods compatible with principles and practices of the specified model.
- Contribute to the performance monitoring and reporting requirements of the Rapid Response program to ensure model fidelity.
- Fulfil program requirements regarding case recording, data collection, registration standards and other requirements such as the Rapid Response evaluation.
Record and update outcomes and data management systems to meet DFFH and Anglicare Victoria's guidelines and statutory requirements.
Complete mandatory programmatic training, including but not limited to (Rapid Response, North
Carolina Family Assessment Scale and Electronic Case Management System).
Role Requirements
To be successful in this position you will need:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Early Childhood Specialist and/or related behavioural sciences at degree level with relevant experience; or diploma level with substantial experience.
The ability to demonstrate competency against the knowledge, skills and personal qualities outlined on page 2 of the Position Description – such as:
- working with high needs complex families
- using a child focused family-centred approach and parenting educational programs
- working within a casework framework
utilising culturally sensitive practice with marginalised and minority groups
knowledge of child welfare services
- understanding theoretical approaches (i.e., motivational interviewing and social inclusion)
- strong skills in stakeholder collaboration
- ability to prioritise tasks and manage timeframes
experience conducting risk and needs assessments
The ability to perform work outside of standard office hours to service the needs of clients
- A current Victorian driver's license and Working with Children Check and be prepared to undergo Criminal History Check(s) prior to commencement
