About the role

As an experienced Senior Mechanical Maintenance Technician, the employee is responsible for delivering both planned and reactive mechanical maintenance across East Gippsland Water assets, with an initial focus on recycled water treatment facilities. In addition to maintenance delivery, the role includes providing specialised input into the development and optimisation of mechanical maintenance plans and schedules, project scoping and design (aligned with the employee's skills and expertise), development of maintenance procedures and documentation, and preparation of condition assessment reports.

Initially, the role will concentrate on supporting operational and maintenance activities at recycled water treatment plants within the EGW network. However, it is expected that within 12 months, the position will transition into the central maintenance team, expanding its mechanical maintenance responsibilities across all EGW assets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance & Repairs: Coordinate and deliver mechanical maintenance for recycled water treatment facilities, including in-house repairs and contractor management.
  • Project Support: Assist with major repairs, minor mechanical renewals, and other assigned projects.
  • Planning & Reporting: Develop and optimise maintenance schedules, conduct condition assessments, and produce detailed reports with recommendations.
  • Team Collaboration: Share knowledge, mentor staff, and foster a cooperative, inclusive, and positive team culture.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise effectively across EGW, manage meetings and conflict constructively, and represent EGW values.
  • Safety & Compliance: Promote and apply health, safety, and environmental policies, ensuring activities align with risk and procurement frameworks.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate documentation of materials, activities, and decisions in EGW's record management system.
  • Customer & Staff Relations: Handle queries sensitively and confidentially, respecting privacy and professionalism.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  1. Significant knowledge, skills, understanding and relevant qualifications for mechanical maintenance of industrial equipment combined with the ability to operate plant and specialised tools.
  2. Knowledge and experience in the development of maintenance procedures and maintenance programs.
  3. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment or unsupervised with a safety focus.
  4. Effective time management skills combined with the ability to problem solve and prioritise to ensure high quality outcomes during times of peak activity.
  5. A positive attitude towards personal development including being accountable, innovative, passionate and united to achieve corporate objectives.
