Position Summary:

We are looking for a skilled Motor Mechanic to undertake diagnostics, repairs, and routine maintenance of our vehicles. The ideal candidate will have a trade qualification and hands-on experience working with engines and mechanical systems, particularly in a commercial or fleet environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Examine vehicles to identify mechanical and electrical issues affecting performance
  • Strip down engine assemblies, steering systems, gearboxes, and other major parts for fault investigation and repairs
  • Perform part replacements, system overhauls, and component reassembly using workshop manuals and diagnostic tools
  • Carry out preventive maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, and tuning
  • Rebuild engines and components, and ensure systems are functioning efficiently post-repair
  • Use digital diagnostic equipment and vehicle management systems to assist with fault detection
  • Conduct testing and adjustments to ensure proper vehicle operation and regulatory compliance
  • Provide vehicle condition reports and outline necessary work to achieve roadworthiness
  • Respond to mechanical breakdowns and perform minor roadside repairs as required

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • AQF Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent
  • At least 1 year of on-the-job training or relevant work experience
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic and workshop equipment
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals and service bulletins
  • Current driver's licence preferred
  • Registration or licensing (if required by the state/territory)

Desirable:

  • Background in heavy vehicle servicing and fleet maintenance
  • Familiarity with Australian standards for vehicle safety and emissions
