As a Paediatric Clinical Teaching Fellow at the Royal Children's Hospital, you will have the opportunity to lead innovative teaching sessions, mentor aspiring medical students, and contribute to the development of a cutting-edge curriculum. You'll enhance your skills as a medical educator within the prestigious Melbourne Medical School, known for its excellence in clinical teaching and educational innovation.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Deliver Engaging Teaching Sessions: Conduct clinical skills teaching at the bedside and mentor medical students.
- Contribute to Academic Excellence: Prepare and mark written paper examinations, and participate in curriculum development.
- Enhance Teaching Practices: Engage in professional development programs and peer review sessions to refine teaching strategies.
- Provide Leadership and Support: Attend department meetings, support student committees, and contribute to community events.

Your new team – Department of Paediatrics
The Department of Paediatrics, located within the School of Medicine, is a key partner in the University's collaboration with the Royal Children's Hospital. This department plays a crucial role in managing the Child & Adolescent Health component of the Doctor of Medicine programme, supporting over 150 research degree candidates from Honours to PhD levels and facilitating clinical studies for approximately 220 students annually. In 2020, the department achieved significant milestones by securing over $5.5 million in research funding and contributing to more than 1,295 peer-reviewed publications.
In addition to its academic contributions, the Department of Paediatrics is instrumental in shaping policies and senior management strategies at the Royal Children's Hospital, influencing child and youth health policies at both national and state levels. The department offers a diverse range of teaching and postgraduate programs, including Adolescent Health & Wellbeing, Genetic Counselling, and other specialties focused on the health and welfare of children, adolescents, and their families. The department, in collaboration with the Royal Children's Hospital campus, aims to create a cohesive hub that integrates research, teaching, and clinical activities to advance child and adolescent health.
