About The Role
Cover Genius is looking for a talented and experienced Software Engineer to join our team. You'll be instrumental in developing and maintaining our core platforms, which are built primarily on
Python and PHP
.

This is a great role for someone comfortable working with multiple languages and who wants to make a significant impact. You'll have the opportunity to work on challenging projects, collaborate with a skilled team, and contribute to the growth and success of our products.

• Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable web applications using Python and PHP. Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
• Build and maintain REST APIs for internal and external use.
• Work on both new features and the ongoing maintenance and optimisation of our existing platforms, with a focus on performance and scalability.
• Collaborate with other engineers, product managers, and designers to define, scope, and deliver new features.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and share knowledge with the team.
• Help troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues.
• Leverage your hands-on experience with databases like PostgreSQL and DynamoDB.

Skills & Experience
What you will bring:

• Proven experience as a Software Engineer, with a mid-to-senior level background.
• Strong proficiency in both Python and PHP. Experience with Django, Laravel would be beneficial but not required.
• Strong experience building and maintaining REST APIs.
• Proven track record of working on performance optimisation and scaling applications.
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and DynamoDB.
• Experience with front-end technologies like React and is a plus.
• Familiarity with common development tools and methodologies (e.g., Git, agile development).
• A solid understanding of database design and management.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills.

Bonus If You Have

• A background in Machine Learning (ML) or Artificial Intelligence (AI).
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform.
• Knowledge of container orchestration with Kubernetes.
• Prior work with Edge Computing.
