Transport Allocator – First Transport

First Transport is one of Australia's leading Aboriginal-owned transport and logistics companies, providing heavy haulage, container freight, and civil project logistics across major infrastructure projects. With a reputation for reliability, safety, and expertise, we deliver effective transport solutions for Tier-1 contractors and civil partners across Australia.

We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Transport Allocator to join our team. This role is central to the day-to-day performance of our fleet, responsible for scheduling, coordinating, and communicating job allocations for both drivers and subcontractors across our major project customers.

Working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, the Allocator will liaise closely with the Operations Coordinator and Project Lead to ensure all job orders, driver rosters, and delivery schedules are executed efficiently and safely — adjusting allocations as projects and client requirements evolve.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, manage, and adjust daily and weekly transport schedules for our fleet and subcontractor pool.
  • Allocate and dispatch jobs to drivers and subcontractors across multiple projects.
  • Communicate shift details, site requirements, and job instructions clearly and promptly.
  • Respond to last-minute changes including cancellations, breakdowns, or additional job requests.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to maximise fleet utilisation and minimise downtime.
  • Maintain accurate records of allocations, shift logs, and compliance documents.
  • Liaise with clients to confirm job details, delivery times, and access requirements.
  • Support compliance with NHVR fatigue, safety, and Chain of Responsibility standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in operational efficiency and communication.

About You

  • Proven experience as a Transport Allocator, Scheduler, or similar logistics coordination role.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with a calm approach under pressure.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Sound computer literacy with MS Office, Outlook, and transport management systems.
  • Working knowledge of NHVR fatigue, CoR, and safety compliance (preferred).
  • Team player with a proactive, solutions-driven mindset.
  • Previous driving or operational experience within transport or logistics (desirable but not essential).

Why Join First Transport

  • Be part of a proudly Aboriginal-owned business making a tangible impact in Australia's transport industry.
  • Join a collaborative and supportive operations team committed to excellence.
  • Competitive remuneration and opportunities for career growth as the company expands nationally.
  • Exposure to major infrastructure projects and Tier-1 contractors.

If you're ready to bring your experience, energy, and initiative to a fast-growing logistics business, we'd love to hear from you.
