Senior Financial Accountant

CORONADO GLOBAL RESOURCES is a leading international producer of high-quality Metallurgical Coal. Our global operations are located in two of the world's largest and most productive metallurgical coal basins, the Bowen Basin in Queensland and the Central Appalachian region of the US.

About the Role
We are now seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join our Finance team, based in our Brisbane Corporate Office. Reporting to the Manager Accounting, this is a key position supporting the delivery of accurate, compliant, and insightful financial reporting across Coronado's Australian operations.

This role is ideal for a technically strong accountant who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys problem-solving, and takes pride in producing high-quality financial outcomes that support operational performance and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee month-end financial processes for the Australian Operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with SOX controls, IFRS, and US GAAP.
• Take ownership of key financial ledgers including revenue, royalties, logistics, and downstream costs, ensuring integrity and insight in financial reporting.
• Manage and refine the coal inventory model, collaborating with Commercial, Technical Services, and Sales & Marketing teams to ensure operational alignment.
• Oversee fixed asset management including capitalisation, disposals, reconciliations, and roll-forward schedules to maintain robust asset governance.
• Coordinate statutory, regulatory, and internal reporting obligations including ABS, DNRME, and payment times reporting.
• Contribute to budgeting and forecasting processes, consolidating Australian Operations results and supporting planning system optimisation.
• Prepare management reports, variance analysis, and commentary to drive informed decision-making.
• Lead, coach, and develop the financial accounting team, fostering a high-performance and continuous improvement culture.
• Partner with internal and external auditors to maintain strong governance and deliver audit readiness.

About You

You will have:

• A tertiary qualification in Commerce or Accounting and CA or CPA accreditation.
• Proven post-qualification experience within a large commercial or ASX-listed environment or professional services firm.
• Proven experience in fixed asset accounting and strong working knowledge of SOX, IFRS, and US GAAP.
• Proficiency in SAP, TM1, and Microsoft Office suite; experience with SAC or similar reporting tools is desirable.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with a focus on accuracy and detail.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence outcomes.
