About You

Are you passionate about creating safe, healthy and productive workplaces? We're looking for a dedicated safety professional to champion workplace safety and wellbeing across a range of work environments within our diverse organisation.

In this key leadership role, you'll mentor and guide a team in delivering streamlined workplace health and safety services. You'll work in collaboration to design and promote programs and initiatives that encourage and support proactive, safe practices and behaviours.

As an experienced safety leader, you'll provide trusted advice and support to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance and build organisational capability and engagement. You'll identify emerging industry trends and deliver innovative, yet practical solutions that are responsive to organisational needs and align with corporate objectives.

This is your opportunity to share your vision and expertise as part of a management team that is committed to the safe, effective delivery of vital Council services to our community.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the General Manager, Corporate Services, you'll oversee the provision of workplace health and safety, rehabilitation and wellness services at Council. With four direct reports and broad strategic responsibility, you'll lead a dedicated team to deliver strategies, policies, programs and systems that promote and support a safety-focused culture, whilst ensuring legislative compliance and appropriate risk management. You'll work in partnership with leaders at all levels to provide timely, responsive, and consistent advice, with a focus on embedding key safety practices and providing a safe and healthy work environment.

Who We're Looking For

  • A collaborative and strategic leader with exceptional communication skills and a strong commitment to service excellence and stakeholder engagement.
  • A degree-qualified professional with extensive workplace health and safety experience at a senior level.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and guiding a high-performing team and managing the delivery of systems, programs and services that support safe workplace practices.
  • Proven ability in setting policy direction and leading change initiatives that promote and embed a strong safety culture.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and projects while ensuring ongoing legislative compliance and meeting corporate objectives.
  • A personal alignment with Council's values of Honesty, Accountability, Respect, Teamwork, and Safety and Wellbeing.

What We Offer

  • A career-defining leadership role with the opportunity to shape a proactive safety culture and influence corporate outcomes.
