Job Title:

Steel Fabricator / Boilermaker – Formwork & Safety Systems

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Steel Fabricator/Boilermaker to manufacture and assemble structural and formwork components for high-rise and civil construction projects. This role involves fabricating universal beam assemblies, RHS shutters, 300×300×5 mm steel corner plates, column moulds, safety screens, and custom brackets, working with both new and recycled materials. Attention to detail, quality, and adherence to safety standards are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Fabricate and assemble 250 UB & PFC sections into overhead beam assemblies for jumpform systems.
• Manufacture steel RHS shutters for concrete walls, ensuring correct squareness, flatness and weld quality.
• Cut, prepare, and weld 300 × 300 × 5 mm steel plates for use as corner reinforcement plates in concrete walls.
• Build and maintain steel moulds for round concrete columns to specified sizes.
• Fabricate safety screens using galvanized SHS and mesh, including frames, panels, and brackets.
• Produce custom components, plates, gussets, and brackets for formwork systems as per fabrication drawings.
• Cut, fit, and weld steel using MIG welding to AS/NZS 1554 standards.
• Read and interpret workshop drawings, marking out material for cutting, drilling, and welding.
• Safely operate workshop machinery, including saws, drills, grinders and overhead lifting equipment.
• Work with both new and recycled steel, preparing, cleaning, and reworking material for reuse where required.
• Conduct quality checks on fabricated components to ensure dimensional accuracy.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, following WHS procedures and using PPE correctly.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Experienced ability in Fabrication, Boilermaking, or Welding
• Strong MIG welding skills
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings accurately.
• Experience working with structural steel, RHS, plate, and mesh components.
• Comfortable working with reclaimed material, including preparation and inspection for defects.
• Forklift licence, dogging/rigging, or overhead crane experience (advantageous).
• Focus on safety, quality, and efficiency.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift, handle, and position heavy steel components safely & using overhead crane
• Comfortable working in a fabrication workshop environment with welding, cutting, and grinding operations.

Job Types: Full-time, Casual

Pay: $50.00 – $55.00 per hour

• Welding: 4 years (Preferred)
