With an emphasis on the journey towards mastery of the discipline of Hospitality and Tourism Management, the ICMS postgraduate and undergraduate programs aim to equip students to transform into sought-after leaders who make a positive impact on the industry.

About the role

The Sessional Lecturer (Lecturer B) contributes to the design, management and delivery of teaching subject modules within the Master of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Bachelor of Hospitality Management and the Bachelor of Business- International Tourism, including but not limited to the following areas:

• Airline Management 
• Cruise Management
• Tourism Marketing
• Food and Beverage Service
• Bar and Mixology
• Hotel Management Simulation
• Resort Management 
• Technology and Innovation in Tourism

The Lecturer is responsible for providing a high-quality teaching and learning experience to students, achieved through ongoing development of scholarly activity in the allocated subject(s) and learning and teaching practice. The Lecturer takes an active role in coordinating moderation and quality assurance activities, developing other teachers, and inspiring students to be career ready.

Examples of Accountabilities:

• Student consultation and engagement
• Preparing and delivering classes aligned with ICMS learning and teaching principles
• Assessing student assignments and grading student performance in a timely manner
• Academic quality assurance - adhering to ICMS policies, procedures and guidelines for teaching and learning
• Ensuring all required levels of assessment moderation are carried out in line with relevant policy and procedure
• Academic Administration
• Implementing innovations in learning & teaching using technology
• Organising relevant guest speakers, field trips or excursions with industry 
• Attending end of term sign off meetings and faculty with Senior Program Manager
• Leading and coordinating other academic teachers in academic administration within the allocation of a subject
• Reflecting on own teaching practice contributing to the end of term teaching and subject reflection
• Injecting current discipline and industry knowledge into subject content to ensure the subject is relevant and contains emerging trends in the field of education
• Actively contributing to the ICMS culture, events and displays and fosters ICMS values in others

About you

You should be available to teach at our two main campuses in Haymarket and Manly; and able to teach in different modes as agreed.  

To be appointed at Level B, you will have or be able to demonstrate:

• Appropriate AQF+1 qualifications in a relevant discipline
• Master's Degree (essential for Undergraduate)
• PhD qualification in relevant field or meet requirements demonstrating equivalence (essential for Postgraduate)
• Experience with implementing AI in Tourism and Hospitality education
• Training and experience in LEGO Serious Play in Higher Education are highly desirable 
• Proven record of accomplishment of ability to teach a diverse range of students
• Industry experience and engagement with the professions
• Membership of or participation in a relevant professional association
• Sound interpersonal and communications skills
• Experience working in a team-based environment
• An understanding of ICMS vision and how it can be implemented into learning and teaching
• Record of accomplishment or ability to lead one or more subjects
• High-level experience and competence in leadership, teaching, scholarship, and administration
• Ability to implement institutional vision into teaching activities
• Ability to promotes a student-centred culture and establishes respectful relationships in work and study
• Ability to develop meaningful and impactful partnerships with the broader community, by actively engaging and collaborating with external stakeholders.
• Ability to promote the performance and reputation of the Institution through engaged scholarship
