About the Role

Join our Balance Sheet team and play a key role in managing the organisation's assets and liabilities.

In this role, you'll contribute to the effective management of the organisation's balance sheet and support the delivery of disciplined, ethical investment outcomes. Your work will span treasury operations, fixed‑income investing, risk management and responsible investing - helping safeguard funds entrusted to us and ensuring they are deployed with care and discipline.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse treasury and fixed‑income portfolios to support sound investment decisions
• Monitor daily interest rate exposures and liquidity to ensure the organisation remains well‑positioned and financially resilient
• Oversee day‑to‑day cash flow requirements, ensuring funds are available where and when needed
• Execute trades efficiently and professionally through regular engagement with brokers and dealers
• Conduct research across fixed income, credit and private debt, including assessment of external investment managers
• Contribute to enhancements in asset–liability management models, processes and methodologies
• Assist in the development and implementation of interest rate and credit hedging strategies to minimise financial risk across the balance sheet
• Support the execution of trades for internally managed fixed‑income strategies
• Prepare timely reporting, insights and analysis for internal stakeholders, committees and the Board
• Draft high‑quality papers and presentations for committees and leadership forums
• Ensure all investment activity aligns with UFS's Ethical and ESG Investment Policy
• Help strengthen the integration of ethical principles, ESG factors and UN Sustainable Development Goals into investment analysis and decision‑making
• Contribute to ongoing development of responsible investment frameworks, tools and processes

About You

You're a financially savvy analyst with a passion for purposeful investing. You bring strong technical skills in modelling, treasury or investment management, and you're comfortable navigating complex information to make sound, risk‑aware decisions. You communicate clearly, collaborate naturally, and thrive in environments where integrity and ethical practice matter. Most importantly, you're motivated by work that serves a bigger mission and are ready to contribute your expertise to an organisation grounded in values and community impact.

You will bring:

• Degree in Finance, Economics or related field
• 3–7 years' experience in investment management, treasury or financial services
• Strong financial modelling skills (Excel, VBA/Python)
• Experience with Bloomberg or similar analytical tools
• Excellent analytical, communication and report‑writing skills
• Ability to work collaboratively, manage competing priorities and uphold confidentiality
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• A preparedness to work within the polity and ethos of the Uniting Church in Australia
