The Role

We're seeking an experienced and passionate Cook Grade 5 (Tradesperson) to lead our kitchen team and help take our food offering to the next level. This is a full-time position (38 hours per week)

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the kitchen team, ensuring high standards of food preparation and presentation

• Develop seasonal menus and weekly specials that align with our cafe's brand and customer preferences

• Maintain food quality and consistency through recipe standardization

• Manage inventory, food costs, and minimize waste

• Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations

• Work collaboratively with front-of-house staff to deliver an exceptional customer experience

• Train and mentor kitchen staff

Requirements

• Qualified tradesperson with completed apprenticeship or equivalent skills and experience

• Proven experience leading a kitchen team in a busy cafe environment

• Strong leadership and team management skills

• Excellent culinary knowledge and passion for creating delicious cafe-style food

• Ability to work efficiently during high-volume periods

• Understanding of food costing, inventory management, and waste control

• Food safety certification

• Must be available to work weekends

Hours

• Cafe trading hours: 6am-1pm daily (staff finish by 2-2:30pm)
