About the role

The Recovery & Support Advisor is a member of the Claims Operations team within the Claims and Recovery Support Division. This role will adopt a person-centered case management approach to proactively support a portfolio of injured workers with complex needs, supporting each with their recovery.

Whilst you will take primary responsibility for a portfolio, you will also work collaboratively with others in the Division and across WorkSafe, adopting a multi-disciplinary approach, sharing your expertise and drawing on the expertise of others.

Effective communication and influencing skills are core to this role, as you will work closely with injured workers,   their support networks, and providers in order to achieve strong and sustainable outcomes.

Key accountabilities

  • Manage a portfolio of injured workers adopting a person centered case management approach to  support their recovery
  • Develop trusted relationships with injured workers and their support networks (e.g. family, health  providers)
  • Professional and Reflective Practice to support self-care, resilience and proactive professional development
  • Engage in face-to-face communication, including visits, with injured workers and their support networks as part of the development of recovery plans, and facilitation of their recovery goals
  • Identify opportunities and goals to support recovery and return to work, connecting injured workers into a range of quality services (informal and formal) that maximise health, self-direction, social participation and work outcomes
  • Ensure that active and timely intervention occurs to improve outcomes by continually monitoring and assessing the injured worker's recovery journey
  • Assist injured workers and their support network navigate the workers compensation scheme, including clarifying roles and responsibilities as required

About you

You are an experienced case management professional who wants to make a difference. Your strong organisation skills allows you to effectively manage your time. You are a team player, who utilises their outstanding communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills to deliver positive outcomes for injured workers.

Additionally, you will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in Case management within a personal injury, health or disability  context
  • Experience in supporting people who have complex needs and demonstrated capacity to improve  outcomes for clients
  • Ability to build rapport and empathy with injured workers and their support networks
  • The ability to handle challenging situations and to act in a professional and responsive manner
  • Contemporary attitude to case management which includes understanding and knowledge of long term injury and disability and its impact on individuals
  • Knowledge of WorkSafe and its stakeholder landscape
