Warakirri College is a highly regarded independent school offering Year 10 and HSC courses to young people aged 15 to 22 years old who have disengaged from mainstream education pathways primarily due to struggles with anxiety or depression and social disadvantage. The College has campuses in Blacktown, Campbelltown and Fairfield, and a Distance Education program. A new campus is opening in Redfern in 2026 This role is located in our Fairfield campus.

We create a flexible and inclusive learning environment with extremely low student-to-staff ratios, small class sizes, and ATAR and non-ATAR study pathways. Each campus has approximately 100 students, facilitating positive relationships between staff and students. Around 30% of graduates receive an early offer for University, 50% progress to TAFE and 10% gain employment.

About The Role

The Student Learning Support Officer (SLSO) delivers learning interventions to assist students who require additional support to achieve their academic, social and emotional goals. They provide support both inside the classroom and individual support outside of the classroom and have a significant role in implementing the students' Individual Education Plans (IEPs).

About You

  • A willingness to support students with diverse learning needs
  • Able to work collaboratively within a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in student learning support and implementing IEPs
  • Hold a minimum Certificate 3 in Education Support or equivalent
  • Capable of affirming and empowering students
