Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Laboratory Technician to join the Anatomical Pathology team on a fixed term contract.
Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne's rapidly growing outer north.
Services are provided through our five main campuses:
Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn Centre, and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park and Coburg.
About the Role:
This role would suit a passionate and experience Laboratory Technican who enjoys working as part of a busy team to contribute to the production of high-quality work and participation on a rotating roster.
This position is a fixed term until August 2026.
Based within the Anatomical Pathology team the key responsibilities are (but not limited to); specimen accessioning and handling, embedding and microtomy of FFPE tissue, data entry, equipment maintenance, block and slide filing, cytopathology preparation, mortuary duties, and other general laboratory responsibilities.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- A relevant diploma of applied science (Medical Laboratory), diploma or advanced diploma in laboratory technology, or laboratory operations, currently study an undergraduate or postgraduate in Laboratory Medical Science, or equivalent.
- Previous experience working in a diagnostic anatomical pathology laboratory.
- Prove ability to work in a fast-changing envrionment, working both independelty and as part of a team.
- Have a high attention to detail, organizational and time management skills.
