In this role, you'll:
Supervise a team carrying out routine or repetitive activities with well-defined and accepted work practices. Team Leader Grade 1 facilitates team processes to meet agreed work plans and project specifications.

Leading a small crew and reporting to the Works Supervisor, you'll be coordinating short term planning and resourcing for maintenance activities across road networks throughout the Southern Highlands region.

You will be responsible for:

• providing guidance and direction to team members in a non-trade's environment.

• managing routine problems that arise without support.

• participating in team meetings and pro-actively offering suggestions for improvement.

• resolving conflict between team members or others outside the team.

• providing on the job training to team members in relevant procedures as required.

• ensuring safety, environmental and quality controls and procedures are implemented on site.

• timely completion of scheduled maintenance activities and works in accordance with TfNSW specifications and operating procedures.

This is an ongoing full-time role located at Welby and will be involved in delivery of projects in the Southern Highlands region, occasionally undertaken at night due to road occupancy requirements.

TfNSW take the WH&S and the management of fatigue of our employees seriously therefore to be eligible for this role it is a requirement that you must reside within 50 kms driving distance from the Welby Depot so that you can start and finish work at this location each shift.

About you
You're a proactive and organised leader with knowledge and experience in a civil construction environment who can provide strong leadership to bring out the best in their team.

You are an excellent communicator with great negotiation and conflict resolution skills. You have the ability to build strong working relationships with external and internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of projects.

You have proven ability to follow appropriate safe working procedures and resolve routine problems independently.

You hold a current Construction Industry White Card, Traffic Control certification and have a current unrestricted NSW Motor Vehicle driver's licence.

Experience operating as a Road Worker Grade 3 or related labouring experience in a civil construction environment, and sound experience using internal reporting systems will be required.

Reading and interpreting maintenance diagrams and plans is an advantage but not essential

A Medium Rigid (MR) or Heavy Rigid (HR) Driver's Licence would be viewed favourably.
