MacKillop Education is a Special Assistance Catholic P-12 School that comprises of three school campuses; Geelong, Maidstone and Caulfield. It caters for children and young people who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from mainstream education. The students referred to MacKilllop have a history and/or ongoing experience of trauma and their needs are complex and diverse; self-regulation is difficult for our students and this can result in challenging social and emotional behaviours.
We have a Permanent Part-time (22.8 per week) opportunity available based in Caulfield, VIC within our MacKillop Education Program.
About the role:
The Speech Pathologist provides high level support, addressing the therapeutic language and speech needs of individuals and groups of students. The Speech Pathologist works closely with the Learning and Teaching team, as well as students and teachers in the classroom. The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate evidence of an appropriate speech pathologist qualification and be a current member of Speech Pathology, Australia.
Key Selection Criteria:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
• Appropriate qualifications as a Speech Pathologist and experience working with neurodivergent children
• Experience working with children and young people who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education and a sound understanding of how trauma and/or neurodivergence can impact learning
• Excellent communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with others and exercise influence in a diversity of contexts.
• Ability to work independently, to take initiative and a capacity for effective decision-making

- Valid and current Driver's Licence;
- Satisfactory Criminal History Check;
- Valid Employee Working with Children Check;
- Valid and current NDIS Workers Screening Check (for risk assessed / client facing roles)
