Fin Design + Effects is an award winning visual effects studio delivering high-end work for feature films, series, and commercial. With studios in Sydney, Melbourne, the Gold Coast, and our Ballina studio.

We're seeking a talented Multimedia Specialist (Camera/Tracking Artist) to join our Ballina studio. This role is ideal for someone passionate about visual storytelling, camera movement, and seamless CG integration. You'll work closely with multiple departments to ensure precise, high-quality matchmoves and camera data that form the foundation of Fin's photorealistic visual effects.

Responsibilities

  • Camera Tracking & Matchmoving: Reconstruct live-action camera movements in 3D space to ensure CG elements align accurately with live-action plates.
  • Object Tracking: Solve object and body tracks so that digital assets move naturally with filmed elements.
  • Data Integration: Utilise on-set data such as lens information, measurements, and reference photography to maintain precision.
  • Collaboration Across Departments: Work closely with Layout, Animation, and Compositing teams to deliver camera and tracking data that supports downstream workflows.
  • Problem Solving: Diagnose and resolve tracking challenges such as motion blur, occlusion, or lens distortion.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all tracking and layout outputs meet Fin's standards of accuracy and realism.
  • Workflow Contribution: Collaborate with Pipeline and Layout/Tracking Leads to enhance workflows, tools, and best practices.

About You

  • Proven experience in camera tracking, matchmoving, or layout within a VFX studio environment for at least 3 years
  • Strong understanding of camera lenses, distortion, and on-set data integration.
  • Proficiency in relevant industry software (e.g. 3DEqualizer, Maya, Nuke).
  • Excellent eye for detail and spatial awareness.
  • A collaborative, proactive attitude with the ability to troubleshoot complex tracking challenges.
