Our client is a values-driven organisation dedicated to helping people— and that includes the people who work with them. They are currently seeking a Payroll Officer to join the team on an initial 12-month fixed-term contract, where your precision and reliability will play a key role in keeping their payroll and finance operations running smoothly.
As the Payroll Officer, you will play a dual role across payroll and finance, you'll be responsible for end-to-end payroll processing, while also supporting day-to-day accounts payable functions and general ledger reconciliation. You'll work closely with both HR and Finance to ensure compliance and accuracy across all areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process weekly payroll using Key Pay and Employment Hero
- Handle terminations, leave, and superannuation contributions
- Prepare PAYG, STP, and ATO compliance reporting
- Reconcile payroll and accounts-related general ledger entries
- Assist with accounts payable and receivable, and month-end reporting
- Manage supplier records and process invoices and payments
- Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies and supplier queries
- Maintain accurate financial documentation and filing systems
- Contribute to ad-hoc finance projects that improve team processes and efficiency
- Support month-end close tasks, including accounts payable and reporting duties
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure data integrity across all financial activities
- Assist with other accounting responsibilities as required to meet business needs
About you:
You're experienced in payroll, with a strong eye for detail and a commitment to getting things right. You enjoy working collaboratively, take initiative, and bring a positive, solution-focused approach to your work.
Ideally, you'll have:
- Accounting qualification preferred
- Payroll experience is essential
- Experience with KeyPay or Employment Hero highly regarded
- Strong finance background in accounts payable/receivable
- High attention to detail and accuracy with financial data
- Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office
- Strong communication and time-management skills
- A team player, collaborative, proactive, and solution-focused mindset
