About the Role
We are looking for experienced, patient, and reliable Therapeutic Youth Workers to join our team located in Tweed Heads NSW. The right applicant must be confident, consistent and resilient and have experience in mental health, drug and alcohol support.
Be rewarded in contributing to empowering our children and young people to lead stable, purposeful lives with hope by offering consistent, holistic support. In this role you will be working directly with children and young people living with complex trauma, and psycho-social challenges in an Out of Home Care setting.
You are a mature mentor and great listener with a dedication to ensure children and young people feel heard, valued and empowered. With a passion to provide responsive, individual support, you enjoy building therapeutic relationships and being a part of the journey to assist children and young people in meeting their aspirations and goals. Your approach is focused on respect, dignity and care.
With help and supervision being required for children and young people living in Out of Home Care, flexibility across a 24/7 roster will ensure adequate coverage of their needs.
This is strictly a smoke/vape free work zone due to working with young people.

Our service delivery covers children, young people and adults in the Northern Rivers, Maitland, Newcastle and Hunter regions.

Our model of care is our Matung Wannay therapeutic practice framework (meaning courageous children in local Wonnarua language), which is based on building trusting and safe attachments and connections which are trauma informed, culturally safe, evidence based and align with our values.
Skills and experience
- Qualifications - Must have Diploma in Community Services OR Minimum 5 year's experience in Youth Work.
- Minimum 2 years working with Children with Complex Trauma and/or disability and high behavioral needs
- Experience in out of home care, child protection services, NDIS, psychology or allied health services.
- Experience working directly with children / young people and families with complex support needs and disabilities, preferably in child protection or out of home care services.
- Experience in positive behavior support and functional assessment data collection, including completing incident reports, shift notes, QR codes and ABC data.
- Highly developed capacity for emotional self-regulation, including the capacity to set and maintain consistent boundaries to provide safety, stability and consistency.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Permanency Support Program and it's aims and principles.
