As such, we are seeking an FMH Biobank Project Officer to join the FMH Biobank Framework team in the development and implementation of initiatives to standardise biobank facilities and operations and connect the community of practice across University Precincts.

There is an onsite expectation for this position.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • support the development and implementation of FMH Biobank Framework Projects, including assisting with the development and implementation of a Quality Management System (QMS), including policies, procedures and guidelines across different areas of biobank operations, as well as the delivery of biobank training and education programs

  • liaising with clinical staff (including surgeons and pathologists, research nurses and data managers) to ensure efficient and ethical participant consent and collection of biospecimens for research

  • supporting the development of written content for Framework Projects, such as work plans and procedures, presentations, communications and web content

  • maintaining accurate records for sample tracking and inventory management in other biobank data management (including archiving), in accordance with operating procedures.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • experience with the development and documentation of protocols and manuals in accordance with regulatory standards/requirements

  • experience working in medical/clinical research, particularly in biobanking, genomics / molecular biology and/or large datasets and related analytics

  • demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise work, sometimes under pressure, with competing priorities and limited supervision

  • excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills including proven ability to communicate with all levels of a health care team, researchers and patients

  • knowledge of biobank operations and/or laboratory processes and facilities for collection, processing and storage of human biospecimen collections, including relevant WHS, participant confidentiality and governance requirements.
