Location / Work Style:

Product:
SaaS - Employee Relations & Integrity Platform

The Story

Rely is a fast-growing SaaS startup building an innovative culture and integrity product to aid Employee Relations teams at large companies. Their product is an intelligent case management platform designed to help organisations prevent, detect, and respond to workplace issues such as bullying, harassment, discrimination, and misconduct. They are committed to their purpose; To empower ethical action in the pursuit of creating positive workspaces, supporting employers & vulnerable individuals by giving a voice to all.

The role

This is an impact-focused role for a Senior DevOps Engineer who wants to help shape the infrastructure of a fast-growing, mission-driven company. Your primary focus will be improving the reliability, observability, and scalability of their systems, laying the groundwork for a high-performing, resilient platform. You'll assess the current state of their infrastructure and deployment pipelines, identify automation gaps, and lead improvements that increase deployment speed and consistency.

You'll also drive enhancements in system observability, helping them detect, troubleshoot, and prevent incidents faster, by implementing better monitoring, alerting, and logging practices. Security's not a checkbox — you'll work closely with leadership to uphold their ISO 27001 certification and bake secure practices into their everyday ops.

This is a role for someone who thrives in both strategic and hands-on work with a strong product mindset. You won't just be building infrastructure in isolation, you'll be collaborating with the engineering team to shape technical solutions, contribute to planning and requirements, and support the delivery of features. This includes everything from backend service engineering and performance tuning to tackling technical debt and ensuring the platform runs smoothly as they grow.

Current Tech Stack

  • Cloud: AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, Cloudwatch, etc) - predominantly Serverless architecture
  • Databases: PostgreSQL with Prisma ORM, DynamoDB
  • API/App: GraphQL, (hosted on Vercel), Node, TypeScript
  • Testing: Jest, Vitest, Cypress
  • CI/CD: GitHub Actions & RunsOn

About you

You're a Senior DevOps Engineer with experience solving tough infrastructure challenges in growing product teams. You bring deep experience in automation, CI/CD pipeline optimisation, through Infrastructure as Code, and with tools such as Github Actions. You know how to navigate technical debt, improve system reliability, and build infrastructure that scales, without over-engineering it. You're not precious about boundaries, when there's a lull in DevOps work or a product ticket needs attention, you're happy to dive into the code and ship what's needed.

Just as importantly, you're adaptable, proactive, and thrive in a team that values trust, autonomy, and open communication. You bring a thoughtful, strategic mindset, but you're not afraid to roll up your sleeves and get into the weeds. You're the kind of person who takes initiative, owns problems end-to-end, and cares deeply about building systems and cultures that last.

What you bring to the role

  • 3+ years of DevOps AWS experience.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code
  • Proficiency with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions) and scripting (Bash/Python).
  • Experience improving observability (CloudWatch, DataDog, etc.) and incident management.
  • A strong understanding of TypeScript, PostgreSQL, GraphQL, and modern frontend deployment (Vercel).
  • A strong background and understanding of
    security by design
    .
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities across AWS technologies

Nice to have

  • Prior startup/scale-up experience with a bias for proactive problem solving.
  • Relevant AWS certifications (e.g., DevOps Engineer Professional, Solutions Architect).
  • Familiarity with Prisma ORM, , Cypress, or Vitest
  • Experience with payment system integrations or tiered SaaS feature rollouts.
  • Knowledge of security frameworks (ie ISO
  • Experience with AI/ML infrastructure, eg.
    Amazon Bedrock
