About the Role

Join the Psychology Registrar Program at Grampians Mental Health & Wellbeing Service (GMHWS) Embark on a unique two-year journey designed to deepen your expertise in psychological and recovery-oriented practice within the public mental health sector.

Delivered in partnership with the Victorian Allied Health Mental Health Graduate Program, this opportunity offers comprehensive training and skill development, diverse rotational experiences across GMHWS and dedicated support to build competence and confidence as a psychologist. Through immersive experience and high-quality supervision, psychology registrars will gain a thorough understanding of the consumer journey and contribute meaningfully within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.

As a Psychology Registrar at Grampians Mental Health and Wellbeing Service, you will benefit from a thoughtfully reduced clinical caseload, allowing you to focus on learning and development. The program includes four hours of protected learning time each week, regular individual and group supervision, and access to up to 10 days of professional development leave for approved training - well above standard EBA entitlements. You will be supported by experienced board-approved supervisors and dedicated psychology educators, helping you build confidence and competence as you transition into practice. Working across regional and rural communities offers unique clinical experiences and the chance to make a meaningful impact where your skills are truly needed.

In addition, you will enjoy generous employment conditions including salary packaging, five weeks of annual leave, and monthly Accrued Days Off (ADOs).

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments to understand the needs of consumers and their families across the lifespan, in both inpatient and community-based settings.
• Undertake responsibilities consistent with those of a fully registered psychologist, including psychological assessment, formulation, and treatment planning appropriate to the service context
• Deliver evidence-based psychological intervention aligned with best practice.
• Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to enhance client-centred, family-inclusive care.

• Contribute to case management duties within a multidisciplinary team that emphasises, practices and continually seeks to improve client-centred, family-inclusive, and evidence-based care.

• Participate in regular individual and group supervision, and demonstrate active commitment to professional development in line with the Psychology Board of Australia's Registrar Program requirements

• Practice with confidence, knowing you are fully supported to uphold the ethical, legal, and professional standards of psychology throughout your registrar journey.

Skills & Experience

• General registration with AHPRA as a Psychologist with eligibility to enter a Registrar Program for Area of Practice endorsement in Clinical Psychology or Clinical Neuropsychology.
• Applications are also welcomed from provisional psychologists nearing completion of their accredited Master's program, who demonstrate readiness to transition into supervised practice.
• Masters or Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology or Clinical Neuropsychology from an APAC accredited course.
• A strong foundation in evidence-based psychological assessment and intervention, along with a commitment to ethical and professional standards, is essential.
• Excellent clinical, organisational, interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to adapt and problem solve.
• Applicants should demonstrate enthusiasm for working in public mental health, a collaborative mindset, and a genuine interest in contributing to rural and regional communities.
