About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to join a high-performing team delivering complex, mission-critical network solutions. This role involves designing and implementing secure network architectures, managing infrastructure projects, and providing expert technical leadership. You will work on highly sensitive projects that impact strategic and operational outcomes, exercising independence and sound judgment in a dynamic environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading network planning and infrastructure design to meet service level agreements.
- Managing installation, upgrade, and operation of local and wide area networks.
- Applying expertise in change management to ensure continuity during integration tasks.
- Mentoring and guiding less experienced engineers while fostering collaboration.
- Engaging in complex problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
The Successful Candidate
To excel in this role, you will bring:
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a Network Engineer or similar.
- Strong leadership and technical direction skills.
- Qualifications in relevant technical disciplines.
- Expertise in network fundamentals, protocols, architectures, and standards.
- Experience producing detailed design documentation.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Essential Criteria:
- Advanced capability in network and infrastructure design.
- Strong problem management skills.
- Ability to assess risks and implement contingency procedures.
Desirable:
- Experience supporting Defence major projects and ADF ISR capabilities.

Location: The role is based in Canberra ACT
Contract terms: 12 months from commencement date, plus potential extensions
SFIA level required: The Specified Person will be expected to demonstrate attributes of SFIA Level of Responsibility 5.
Security Requirements: Current Top-Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance is strongly preferred, however candidates who have held a TSPV in the previous 12-month period (which has since been downgraded) may be considered. An OSA (Organisational Suitability Assessment) will be required for this position.
