As our Senior Environmental Advisor (Biodiversity Offsets), you'll play a key role in protecting and enhancing Western Australia's unique ecosystems by delivering innovative and effective biodiversity offset programs.

Working closely with the Principal Environmental Specialist, you'll support the design, implementation, and management of Fortescue's Biodiversity Offsets Program to meet obligations under the Environment Protection Act and Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act

Your expertise will guide the preparation of Biodiversity Offset Strategies, Impact Reconciliation Procedures (IRPs), and Impact Reconciliation Reports (IRRs), ensuring our operations not only comply with environmental approvals but actively contribute to positive conservation outcomes.

You'll collaborate across internal teams and engage with regulators, Traditional Custodians, and land management organisation s to ensure Fortescue's commitments are met and exceeded.

*Key Responsibilities*

  • Support the development and implementation of Fortescue's Biodiversity Offset Programs to maintain environmental compliance.
  • Prepare and manage Biodiversity Offset Strategies, IRPs, IRRs, and associated datasets.
  • Collaborate with the Geospatial Services team to deliver high-quality data and mapping products.
  • Engage with State and Commonwealth regulators, conservation agencies, and other stakeholders to meet approval commitments.
  • Provide expert environmental advice to project and operational teams across the business.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in biodiversity offset delivery and reporting.

Qualifications And Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in biodiversity offset planning, implementation, or environmental compliance.
  • Strong understanding of the Environment Protection Act and EPBC Act
  • Excellent analytical and reporting skills, with experience managing environmental datasets and GIS systems.
  • Proven ability to build productive relationships with regulators, landholders, and other stakeholders.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Ecology, Natural Resource Management, or a related discipline.
