Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Physiotherapist to join the Physiotherapy Team at Northern Health.

Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne's rapidly growing outer north.

Services are provided through our five main campuses:

Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn Centre, and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park and Coburg.

About the Role:

The Grade 2 Physiotherapist will have a leading role in ensuring excellence in client care and education of staff and team. They will provide high quality patient care to the patients on the Geriatric Evaluation and Medicine (GEM) wards and provide supervision to the weekend Allied Health Assistants. The clinical caseload will vary depending on demand, and will be a mix of neurological, musculoskeletal and general. The role predominantly involves assessing and treating patients on the Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM) wards on a Saturday for 4 hours at Bundoora Centre.

This role is a part time permanent position at 4 hours a fortnight (Saturday).

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Experience and demonstrated expertise with managing patients in the subacute setting

  • A background which includes significant clinical experience and skills in gerontology physiotherapy (in particular to those over 65 years of age who have multiple comorbidities and may include history of falls/high falls risk)

  • Demonstrates leadership skills and initiative in developing and promoting clinical care

  • Well developed interpersonal skills

  • Well developed organisational and time management skills

  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Skills in negotiation and conflict resolution

  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team
