About the role

Reporting to the Manager – Merchandise and Distribution Centre, the Merchandise Sourcing Coordinator is responsible for identifying, developing, and maintaining sustainable and financially viable channels for sourcing high-quality preloved donations into our network of Red Cross Shops and Distribution Centres.

This role requires a proactive and commercially minded individual with strong networking and negotiation skills. This role will build and nurture relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders on a national scale —including councils, community groups, and organisations involved in the resale or reuse of second-hand goods. A key focus of the role is to engage local communities and partners to encourage ongoing donations, ensuring a consistent flow of quality preloved products that support our fundraising efforts and social impact.

What you will bring

  • Proven experience in sourcing, supply chain & logistics
  • Extensive understanding and experience of specialty retail operations and compliance issues
  • Excellent communication skills across internal and external partners
  • Demonstrated financial and numerical skills
  • Ability to think creatively and exercise initiative, discretion and judgment to solve problems
  • Demonstrated experience of third-party negotiation utilising a consultative approach to decision making

Benefits that act for you, while you act for humanity

Financial wellbeing: In addition to your salary, you can take advantage of salary packaging via Maxxia. This can potentially reduce the amount of tax you pay each year and leave you with more disposable income in your pocket. Salary package expenses like rent, utilities, groceries, and school fees - up to $15,900 per year.

Health & Wellbeing: Discounts available through a variety of insurance providers. Access to health education resources via programs like Converge and Headspace. Memberships available to Fitness Passport, which provides affordable and unlimited access to more than 1,600 gyms, pools, and leisure centres across Australia.
