About the Role
Are you ready to elevate your career in renewable energy? Crookwell Wind Farm, approximately 90 minutes north of Canberra, is looking for a Lead Technician to join our team. The 91MW wind farm is able to produce up to 320-GWh of renewable energy annually for homes in Canberra from 28 GE 3.4MW turbines, contributing to the capital's 100% renewable energy target. As one of the early pioneers in Australia's wind energy sector, Crookwell plays an important role in the country's sustainable energy future.
Taking a Lead role in the resident site team, working at the forefront of renewable energy, maintaining and troubleshooting wind turbines at some of the most exciting and innovative sites in the country, including annual maintenance, retrofit works, major component exchange and fault finding.
The Lead Technician will also act as the State Nominated Electrical Supervisor (QTP), and Delegate to the High Voltage Operating Authority.
- Perform high voltage switching operations and issue permits
- Conduct maintenance, fault finding, and electrical inspections
- Undertake tasks including annual maintenance, retrofit works, major component exchange and fault finding
- Lead and coordinate contractor work plans and servicing schedules
- Ensure compliance with electrical standards, codes, and safety regulations
- Use GE software tools for reporting and technical queries
- Participate in annual maintenance, retrofits, and major component works
- Embrace a 37.5-hour work week, with opportunities for overtime as approved and participate in on-call rosters for after-hours or weekend work as directed
- Support continuous improvement and mentor site technicians
About You
- Hold a valid Electrical Worker's Licence (Qualified Supervisor (S) or Contractor (C)) in NSW
- Eligible to be nominated as the Nominated Qualified Supervisor – Electrical for the Crookwell site
- Solid understanding of AC/DC circuits and fault-finding (24VDC to 690VAC)
- High Voltage switching experience and current HV certificate (or ability to obtain)
- Strong fault-finding skills across electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems
- Proven leadership and customer service experience in the wind or industrial sector
- Proficient with computer systems and digital work tools
- A current unrestricted driver's license
- Ability to complete physically demanding tasks at heights, comfortable with heights (you'll be climbing turbines, so you've got to have a head for heights and a love for fresh air)

- Open to travel to other sites as required, from time to time
