Key Responsibilities
As the Operation Manager - Road Transport, your primary duties will include:
Operational Management:
Oversee daily Interstate and local line haul movements in order to ensure timely and cost-effective service delivery.
- Coordinate and manage the allocation of company resources including drivers, vehicles, and equipment.
- Implement and maintain systems to track fleet performance and productivity.
- Arrange the service and repair of company trucks and trailers.
- Break down assistance
Administration
Collection of PODs for drivers
- Assisting with log books collection and reviews
- Gear box knowledge
- Update service spreadsheets
- Emailing customers on allocations
- Reviewing and processing new driver applications.
- Complaints handling
- Arranging the service of company equipment and repairs
Staff Leadership:
Recruit, train, and supervise transport staff, fostering a culture of safety and efficiency.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide guidance for team development.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure all transport activities comply with relevant legislation, safety standards, and company policies.
- Develop and enforce procedures for vehicle maintenance and inspections.
Customer Service:
Maintain and build relationships with clients, ensuring high standards of customer service.
- Address client inquiries and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.
Financial Oversight:
Monitor budgets, expenses, and profitability of transport operations.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to improve financial performance.
Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this role, applicants must have:
Work Experience:
A minimum of 3 years of work experience in interstate allocations and local pick up and deliveries including arranging the service of company trucks and trailers in line with service schedules.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proven ability to manage operational budgets effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge:
In-depth understanding of transport and logistics regulations and industry best practices.
