Lead - Strategic Projects Advocacy
Located in the heart of Southeast Queensland, City of Moreton Bay is one of the fastest growing and most ambitious local governments in Australia, with a focus on shaping the future of our communities through investment in major infrastructure, city-shaping projects and facilitating opportunities that leverage the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. We are seeking a highly capable and strategic professional to join our External Relations team as Lead - Strategic Projects Advocacy, a pivotal role that will drive the city's advocacy agenda on projects that will define tour city's future.
Reporting directly to the Advocacy Manager, and supported by a small, specialist team, you will be responsible for advancing complex and high-profile projects through collaboration across Council including with internal specialists and with external stakeholders. You will utilise your strategic project management and influencing skills to investigate opportunities, seek partnerships, funding and deliver key initiatives for the city. Working with your advocacy and external relations team members, you will translate technical and strategic information into evidence based, compelling, outcome-focused advocacy that resonates with external partners including State and Federal decision-makers.
The successful candidate will have substantial experience in delivering strategic projects, policy or advocacy and government relations, ideally within a local government, infrastructure, or major projects environment. You will be a skilled communicator who can prepare complex reports, submissions, and grant applications, while also engaging credibly with a diverse range of external stakeholders including government officers and elected representatives, industry leaders and community stakeholders. Crucially, you will be able to operate with agility, shifting from high-level strategy development to hands-on execution, ensuring the city's priorities are consistently well positioned to attract investment and ongoing support.
With a focus on infrastructure, growth, and leveraging legacy outcomes for City of Moreton Bay from the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, this role offers the opportunity to shape projects of real scale and impact. You will also contribute your strategic, technical and people leadership skills to effectively advance advocacy outcomes.
We are seeking a professional who thrives in a fast-paced, politically sensitive environment, with highly developed strategic project management, influencing and negotiation skills and the ability to navigate complex networks with credibility and discretion.
If you are motivated by the opportunity to make a lasting impact, to shape city-shaping initiatives, and to represent one of Australia's most dynamic cities this could be the role for you. This is an exceptional opportunity for a driven, politically astute, strategic and relationship-focused leader to make a real impact for Australia's third largest local government.
