Azima Restaurant, meaning "invitation to feast," is a traditional Lebanese restaurant in the heart of Canberra. We pride ourselves on offering fresh, vibrant flavours and generous banquet menus at an affordable price. Our guests come to us for a one-of-a-kind dining experience that celebrates the rich culinary heritage of Lebanon.

The Opportunity

We are looking for passionate and experienced Cooks and Chefs to join our dynamic team. This is a hands-on role where you will play a key part in delivering authentic Lebanese flavours and creating memorable dining experiences for our valued guests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare grill station with all necessary ingredients, tools, and equipment (including cutting, marinating, and skewering meat, chicken, and seafood).
  • Grill meats, chicken, seafood and vegetables to specific temperatures and degree of cooking.
  • Monitor and adjust grill temperatures to ensure even cooking and food safety.
  • Season and marinate ingredients in line with recipes and customer preferences.
  • Ensure timely preparation and delivery of grilled items during service.
  • Follow strict food safety and hygiene standards, especially when handling raw and cooked foods.
  • Maintain grill equipment in a clean, safe and functional condition.
  • Coordinate with kitchen team for smooth and efficient operations.
  • Assist the Head Chef with daily operations and menu execution.
  • Manage stock levels, minimise waste and ensure proper storage of ingredients.
  • Keep work areas clean, organised and service ready.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience working in a restaurant environment, preferably with grilling experience.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation, presentation and hygiene regulations.
  • The ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen and maintain high standards under pressure.
  • A collaborative mindset with proven ability to follow and implement workplace procedures.
  • Motivation and initiative to contribute to the restaurant's success.
  • Applicants with Australian work rights preferred
