The Opportunity

Elsie is a casual neighbourhood restaurant offering a funky, modern Australian menu in the quaint island setting of Picnic Bay.

We're on the lookout for a passionate, hands-on Restaurant Manager to lead our front-of-house team and uphold the level of service Elsie is known for.

Elsie is all about quality food, genuine hospitality, and creating a space that locals and visitors love to return to. We're seeking someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, loves working with people, and brings strong leadership and organisation to the role.

About the Role

You'll be responsible for:

  • Leading and motivating a small, close-knit front-of-house team

  • Managing a small bar and Australian wine program

  • Driving a culture of warm, genuine service
  • Overseeing daily operations — from reservations to floor management
  • Working closely with the Head Chef and owners to ensure smooth service
  • Managing rosters, stock control, and basic admin

About You

You'll bring:

  • Proven experience in a restaurant management or senior FOH role

  • Strong communication and leadership skills

  • A calm, professional approach under pressure
  • Genuine passion for good food, great wine, and true hospitality
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Flexibility to work weekends and evenings
  • A positive attitude and readiness to embrace island life
