Expressions of interest are invited from ongoing and temporary employees within the NSW Public Sector who wish to be considered for this temporary role for a period up to August 2026.
About the Role
The Associate Director's responsibility is to lead the development, implementation, and delivery of programs, policies, advocacy efforts, and partnerships for the Study NSW program. The goal is to strengthen the competitiveness and sustainability of the international education sector in New South Wales (NSW), which is the state's second largest export and a critical enabler of skills and innovation.
As Associate Director, you will lead a team of four direct reports, liaise with Investment NSW's offshore network and oversee a wide array of initiatives, ensuring that each meets strategic objectives, maintains appropriate governance, and addresses emerging opportunities or challenges. By leading program delivery, the role involves creating and applying governance and risk frameworks, performance measures, and reporting standards, which are essential to ensuring successful program execution from start to finish.
A key part of the role is providing expert advice to the Senior Executive and Minister's Offices on program outcomes, international education policy, and the design of future initiatives. This requires the ability to analyse complex information in a timely manner and to communicate effectively with senior leaders to influence decisions. The advisor must ensure that programs align with broader strategic priorities, anticipate sector needs, and help guide policymaking that fosters growth and sustainability of NSW's international education system.

We're Looking For
- Program and Project Management: Expertise in leading the end-to-end delivery of complex programs including the implementation of governance, risk frameworks, performance tracking, and reporting systems
- Stakeholder Engagement: Strong ability to build and manage strategic relationships with industry partners, government agencies, peak bodies, and international stakeholders
- Policy and Sector Expertise: Understanding of public sector regulatory frameworks and NSW Government's trade, investment, and education strategies
- Communication and Advisory Skills: Strong written communication skills for developing ministerial briefings, reports, and correspondence.
