ENGEO is excited to be hiring an experienced laboratory technician to join our growing team. We have been busy establishing our brand new geotechnical and CMT laboratory, which is now rearing to go and firing on all cylinders.

We currently have a team of 6 with a great mix of keen juniors and seasoned experts. There's plenty of work coming through the door, and we've recently landed some significant projects, so we are looking forward to welcoming the newest member of our crew.

The job.

This role will be based at our on-site mobile laboratory in Darwin, you'll join a dedicated local team with support from Queensland to deliver a major project over the next 2-3 years.

Beyond that, there will be opportunities to help start another permanent laboratory location, to join our Queensland crew, or to specialise in regional/mobile laboratory operations

  • Perform sampling and laboratory testing of civil construction materials.
  • Oversee NDT operations for civil construction materials testing.
  • Coordinate with project managers to plan and execute lab and field testing.
  • Develop & maintain NDT procedures (in line with ISO 9712 and NATA requirements)
  • Conduct calibration, compliance, and quality assurance activities within the lab.
  • Log and label soil and rock samples, maintain field records, and upload data to internal systems.
  • Ensure all work complies with ENGEO Management Systems and NATA standards.
Who are you?

Our ideal applicants are hungry, humble, smart, and have:

  • 2+ years' experience in geotechnical/CMT laboratories

  • NATA Level 2 or 3 certified

  • Competency in a broad range of field and lab tests

  • Familiarity with NATA, ISO 17025 requirements

  • Relevant certificate or similar qualification (certificate III or IV in Lab Techniques)

  • Good understanding of soil mechanics and construction quality processes

  • Willing to travel occasionally to Queensland (or beyond)
