for a Technical Advisory program for OSE in
Athens, Greece
. As Safety and Risk Management Director you will be responsible for ensuring the safe operation of the Greek Railways in collaboration with both DB E&C team members and the client OSE. Your focus will be on implementing and maintaining safety standards, conducting risk assessments, and overseeing safety compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Creating and updating safety procedures and protocols to align with relevant European directives and regulations, national law and industry best practices, resulting in the development and implementation of a new Safety Management System (SMS)
  • Liaise with national and European regulation agencies and other stakeholders
  • Identify potential hazards, conduct risk assessments, and implement mitigation strategies to minimize risks associated with railway operations
  • Organize regular audits, inspections, drills and performance monitoring and evaluate the results as input to continuous improvement measures
  • Organize the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures to handle various scenarios, such as derailments, accidents, or natural disasters
  • Foster a strong safety culture within the organization by promoting safety awareness, encouraging reporting of safety concerns, and recognizing safety achievements
  • Monitor safety performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement changes to enhance the overall safety of railway system

Qualifications:

  • Successfully completed university degree in engineering, business management or similar and relevant professional experience in a comparable, complex role
  • Strong understanding of railway operations, safety regulations, risk management principles, and safety management systems
  • Ability to lead and motivate teams, influence others, and foster a positive safety culture
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in similar tasks
  • Certification in health and safety management
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in leadership
  • You impress with your impartial moderation skills and intercultural sensitivity
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Fluency in English mandatory; German and Greek would be an advantage
